Giving

We are a non-profit organization under state approved bylaws and registered as a tax exempt 501(c)3 with the IRS. All gifts are therefore tax deductible upon reception of our thank you letter and receipt. We are able to receive funds through trusts, wills, bequests, and donation of other saleable goods such as property and stocks.

We understand that there will be many people who are interested in helping Whetstone but cannot give a lump sum all at once. We will happily receive your gifts monthly or in any fashion that suits your needs.

Fund Raising Code of Ethics

  1. We will operate this ministry as stewards of God’s resources. It belongs to Him and its provision or lack thereof will be under his control.
  2. The founders of Whetstone, Nathan Dahlstrom, Jeremy Thompson, and Brandon Maxwell, do not own Whetstone Boys Ranch nor will any buildings or property be named after them. We will present our needs in an honest and respectful manner. We will never resort to begging, manipulating, or violating common civility to reach our funding goals.
  3. We will value and respect all contributions no matter the size in the manner of Christ as He praised the widow’s two coins in Luke 21. All money will be spent in the most efficient and accountable manner possible.
  4. We will never share, rent, or share our donor mailing list or personal information to any institution for any reason.
  5. Fund-raising staff will not be paid a percentage of donations or by the stated campaign goal. All staff will be paid a set salary for any services provided.
  6. Our financial reports and data will be available for audit at any time. Donors and the general public are welcome to ask questions concerning expenditures, projects, or budgets and reserve the right to receive honest and open answers.
